Florida College System Chancellor Madeline M. Pumariega visited the Ocala Campus Wednesday, Aug. 17, to present a check for $26,859 to the CF Foundation Board.

Nearly $14,000 is for Florida Blue Nursing Scholarships, which aim to relieve the nursing shortage. The balance is for Helios Education Foundation Scholarships and Dream Makers Scholarship Awards, which are for students who are the first in their families to attend college.

“Since 2001, the Florida College System Foundation has provided almost $250,000 to College of Central Florida students,” said Dr. Jim Henningsen, president of CF. “We are thankful for this generous and important support that helps students and the college to meet the needs and workforce demands of our great community.”

The Florida College System Foundation works to raise and manage funds for distribution to all 28 colleges in the system. This year, the FCS Foundation will award $893,000 in scholarships.
