At The Webber Center – Peruvian Art and Music: Sound Healing

CF will present “Peruvian Art and Music: Sound Healing,” a lecture/performance by René Jenkins, assisted by Matthew J. Pallamary.

The event will be held Monday, Sept. 18, 12:30-1:45 p.m., in the Webber Center, in conjunction with the Webber Gallery exhibit “Mysteries of the Amazon: Pablo Amaringo and His Students,” Sept. 14 through Oct. 20.

Jenkins is a multi-instrumentalist, ceremonial sound practitioner, speaker and teacher who will share a form of Sound Healing that is akin to shamanic journeying based on Peruvian cosmology, ancestral wisdom, and modern healing principles. Sounds of ancient indigenous world instruments are played rhythmically, melodically and are “spirit-inspired” to promote an introspective, ecstatic state of awareness. Pallmary is the author of “Land Without Evil,” a novel of first contact between shamans and Jesuits in 18th century South America that was adapted into a full-length stage and sky show.

Tickets are not required for this free presentation. Light refreshments will be served. The lecture was made possible through a grant from the Gladys M. Webber Endowed Memorial Chair.
