CF and (F)Actor Theatre Present ‘Picasso At The Lapin Agile’ June 30-July 2

Actor and Comedian Steve Martin’s “Picasso at the Lapin Agile,” a more silly than serious comedy, will be presented at the College of Central Florida Dassance Fine Arts Center, 3001 S.W. College Road, June 30-July 2.

The production is a collaboration of CF Visual and Performing Arts and (F)Actor Theatre, Ocala’s newest theater endeavor, founded by Janet Shelley, West Port High School, and Kirstin Kennedy, Ocala Civic Theatre.

“Picasso at the Lapin Agile” places Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso in the Lapin Agile, a Parisian café in October 1904. A debate about the value of genius and talent between the artist and scientist rages while the colorful bar regulars contribute to the wordplay and silliness that are Martin’s hallmark.

“I am excited to bring this long-running off-Broadway absurdist comedy to Ocala,” said Andy Variell, play director and CF Fine Arts Center manager. “Our audiences who appreciate Steve Martin’s humor and writing style will enjoy this show.”

The play contains adult language and content. The production is environmental, meaning that the audience will be seated within the confines of the set. Patrons will have a choice of seating options: general seating at $10 or VIP seating on the set with light snack and beverage service for $15.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. daily and 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
