CF Music Groups Present FOUR Free Concerts in April

College of Central Florida Music students will present four free concerts in the Dassance Fine Arts Center at the CF Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road.
Friday, April 21, at 7:30 p.m., the CF Wind Symphony will perform “Story Time.” Doors open at 7 p.m.

“The concert will feature musical pieces from dark stories including the ‘Four Horsemen,’ ‘Jupiter,’ ‘Midnight on Main Street’ and ‘Roller Coaster,’ ” said John Ash, CF associate professor of music. “It will be entertaining to perform and fun for the listener.”

Saturday, April 22, at 7:30 p.m., the CF Patriot Singers, directed by Dr. Hingrid Kujawinski, will present “The Earth Day: A Celebration.” The program will feature “The Creation, a Rock Cantata” by David Bobrowitz and Steven Porter, as well as pieces by Alberto Grau, John Rutter, Tom Jobim, Paul Caldwell and Sean Ivory. Doors open at 7 p.m.

A Piano and Vocal Recital will be held Wednesday, April 19, at 12:30 p.m., and an Instrumental Recital will be held Wednesday, April 26, at 12:30 p.m.

The recitals will feature short opera scenes while highlighting instrumental, piano and vocal performances by CF students. Students will perform musical selections ranging from popular to classical, secular to gospel.

“CF music students work hard all semester to meet specific performance benchmarks for their level, and performing in front of an audience is a valuable educational experience for them. I hope members of the community can join us in celebrating what they have achieved.” said Dr. Jennifer Fryns, CF dean of Arts and Education.
