Congratulations to our Endowed Chair and New Initiative Grant Winners

The following CF employees were honored by the CF Foundation during Fall Convocation.

New Initiative Grants
These are short term projects that can be completed in one academic year. Grants can be used to fund a project or activity that promotes the college’s learning-centered values and vision.  A $250 honorarium is given to each employee whose idea is selected and $2,000 is used to fund the project or activity.  Congratulations to Dr. Charles  McIntosh and Dr. Lisa Smith.

Their project will center around a Black Male Enrichment Conference to be held in conjunction with the CF Office of Admissions. The intent of the conference is to enhance college-wide initiatives that specifically address the retention and enrollment of black males grades 7-11 in February 2020. This conference will motivate, educate and empower black male students and their parents to pursue an higher education.

College-wide “Out-of-the-Box Ideas” grant.
This grant recognizes an outstanding CF employee for an “out of the box” innovative project that meets the college’s goals.  A $500 honorarium with $3,000 to fund the project or activity.  Congratulations to Peggy Recanzone.

Collaborating with CF’s Health Sciences division, Peggy will host two single day summer camps for students entering the 8th grade. The camps will be focused on health care and nursing. These day-long camps will include classroom lecture, hands-on labs, campus tours and meet/greet with professionals in the healthcare industry.

Endowed Chair Award
The recipient of the Regions Federal Endowed Chair went to Dr. Renae Robinson, Teacher Education.

Dr. Robinson’s project is a two-fold program. It will allow three senior bachelor student teachers and one faculty member from CF’s Teacher Education program each year to attend the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. The Ron Clark Academy is a highly acclaimed, nonprofit school known for its innovative and out of the box teaching program that has produced strong results. The goal is to have a multiplying impact introducing innovative and successful strategies of teaching to our future graduates and building on CF’s strong Teacher Education program.
