Information About Passwords

We’ve been getting a lot of calls from people confused by the forced password reset on MyCF.   Here are the answers to the most common questions.

  1. Your MyCF (the web based portal) password works on MyCF only.  Changing it does not change the password on any other system.
  2. If the new MyCF password, you created, is longer than 12 characters, the software only accepted the first 12.   Just enter the first 12 characters and you should still be able to log into MyCF.
  3. We are aware that the “Forgot My Password” function is not working.  We’ve contacted the software vendor and asked them to fix it.
  4. The password that you use to log into your computer, email and Cognos is not connected to your MyCF password.   Your computer, email and Cognos all share the same password.  The only way it can be the same as MyCF is if you make it the same. We do not recommend that you do this!

As always, if you are unable to get into any of your CF accounts, you’ll need to call ITHELP at extension 1378.  Call volume is heavy and we may not be able to answer your call.  Please leave voice mail and we will get back to you.  Help Desk hours are 7 AM to 6 PM, on days the college is open, typically Monday through Friday.

Thank you.
