Music Students Shine

Eight CF music students and faculty members John Ash and Dr. Hingrid Kujawinski attended the Florida College System Activities Association Winter Music Symposium Jan. 28-29, and received several accolades.

Chase DeCarlo competed in the statewide Concerto competition, and received first place in the state (in the brass instrument category). He will receive a $1,000 scholarship to be used to further his education either at CF or a four-year institution.

Percussionist Marcus Chandler received an honorable mention in the competition. Students also attended master classes, rehearsals and all performed and culminating concerts.

“The students have expressed to me thanks to the college and to the CF Foundation for supporting their participation in this wonderful event,” said Dr. Jennifer Fryns, dean of Arts and Education.
