Mysteries of the Amazon at the Webber Gallery

The Webber Gallery apresents “Mysteries of the Amazon: Visionary Artwork of Pablo Amaringo and His Students” Sept. 14-Oct. 20.

The exhibition is curated by Scott Olsen, Ph.D., and features 60 paintings by Peruvian artists from Olsen’s private collection. The large-scale, acrylic paintings depict plant and animal spirits that signify the visionary experiences of each artist during transformative and spiritual ceremonies.

An opening reception Thursday, Sept. 14, from 4-7 p.m. will feature a performance by sound healer René Jenkins and drummer Matthew Pallamary. There is no charge to attend the reception, exhibition and exhibition events.

Approximately 95 additional works by Amaringo and his students, also from Olsen’s collection, will be on display at the Appleton Museum of Art Sept. 22-Jan. 14, 2018.
