Visual Artists’ Society Best of the Season

The Webber Gallery at the College of Central Florida will host “Best of the Season” from the Visual Artists’ Society Nov. 2 through Dec. 8. An opening reception will be held 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the gallery, 3001 S.W. College Road. The exhibit and reception are free.

The Visual Artists’ Society has over 85 members from Marion County and Central Florida, including professional and amateur artists, and many of CF’s talented students. Exhibits showcase a variety of styles and mediums, including more traditional paintings and photographs, as well as jewelry, sculpture and digital media. The theme of this year’s judged and juried exhibition is “Transformation.”

“When an artist is presented with a theme for an exhibit, the artist has been challenged,” said Linda Harlow, longtime member of VAS. “The challenge is a three-part process: interpreting the theme to see how the art relates, resisting the urge to look under the bed, out in the garage, or in the attic for something that might fit the theme, and finally putting paint on the canvas or whatever medium you choose and starting a special creation that will make you proud.”

Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The gallery will remain open between regular hours and the reception on Nov. 14. The gallery is closed Saturday, Sundays and college observed holidays. For more information call 352-873-5809.
