The Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, is changing in to ways:
- The FAFSA is available three months earlier than previously – Oct. 1, 2016.
- The income used on the FAFSA will be from two years prior to the application year (referred to as “Prior-Prior Year”). This means students will use their 2015 tax return to apply for 2017-2018 aid.
This important change streamlines the college application process for students. Now they will be able to apply for aid at the same time many are applying for college.
