December’s President Update

Dear CF Team:

As we approach the winter break, I would like to thank all of you for your dedication to our students and the college! The end of the semester is a very special time as we celebrate the accomplishments of our students at fall graduation. The ceremony is today at 5 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Ocala. We will honor Mary Kraus, who was a generous supporter of our STEPS scholarship, Nursing program, and our Appleton Museum of Art, with the Distinguished Service Award. Mary knew she was going to get the award at the beginning of the fall semester, but will receive it today posthumously, as she passed away in September. We will miss her smile, her dedication to students of all ages and her great spirit. Marjorie Cothron, a graduate in the Nursing program, will be our graduation speaker. I got to meet Marjorie last night at our Nursing Pinning ceremony and am looking forward to hearing her speech. She is a great example of our talented students.

The Career and Professional Employee Council is gearing up for 2020 elections and is looking for volunteers to serve as area representatives. Please consider serving on this important group. You can contact your local representative to let them know you are interested. You will be notified by the chair in January if you are selected. For more information visit the department website at this link or speak to your area representative.

I wish you all the best for the holidays. Please take time during the winter break to enjoy the company of family and friends.

All the best!
Jim
