“Calendar Girls,” Ira Holmes Film Series

Join us Tuesday, Feb. 27, for “Calendar Girls,” a feel-good dance documentary directed and produced by Swedish filmmakers Maria Loohufvud and Love Martinsen. The love of dance and glitter bonds an unlikely group of 60-plus women in southwest Florida: The Calendar Girls. But under the veil of fake lashes and unicorn horns lurks the deeper truths of what again women face within society. Sisterhood, love and loss – all come into play in this uplifting film about trying to age on your own terms and refuse to become invisible.
First showing, 2 p.m. at the Appleton Museum of Art, 4333 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, free to all museum and film series members; nonmembers pay museum admission. Second showing, 7 p.m. at the College of Central Florida, Humanities and Social Sciences Building, Room 110, free and open to the public. May contain mature content.
