Speaker: Connecting Travelers with Nature, April 10

April 10, 2019 @ 8:30 am - 11:00 am

CF will host a talk connecting travelers with nature from CF alum, hiker, award-winning author and creator of FloridaHikes.com, Sandra Friend, on Wednesday, April 10, at 12:30 and 2 p.m. in the Learning Commons of the Learning Resources Center. Tickets are not required and entry is free. Attend to win a copy of “50 Hikes in Central Florida” and “Five-Star Trails: Gainesville and Ocala.”

Two speaker sessions will be offered. 50 Hikes and More: Hiking Central Florida will be at 12:30 p.m. and Alligators Everywhere: Outdoor Writing in Florida will be at 2 p.m.

Her book, “50 Hikes in Central Florida,” features information on Florida’s landscape. She talks about there’s no better way to take in this natural world than by walking it. Ranging from one to 43 miles in length, each hike includes mile-by-mile directions, a topographic map, and information on hike duration, mileage and trail conditions. Her new edition includes 20 new places to explore, from hidden urban gems like the Circle Bar B Ranch in Lakeland and Ponce Preserve in Daytona Beach to the quiet rural landscapes of Catfish Creek State Park and Chinsegut Hill.
