Visual Artists’ Society ‘Summer Spotlight’ Exhibition, May 22-July 19

The Visual Artists’ Society presents the 22nd “Summer Spotlight” exhibition May 22-July 19 at the Webber Gallery. “Summer Spotlight XXII” will be judged and juried. This year’s guest judge is Alfred Phillips, a Gainesville-based artist who specializes in acrylic painting. There is no fee to attend the exhibition, opening reception and awards ceremony, which will be held Wednesday, May 22, from 5-7 p.m.
“The Summer Spotlight exhibit provides a leisurely paced activity for many visitors over the summer months,” said Tyrus Clutter, associate professor of Art at CF. “The Visual Artists’ Society artists have a long relationship with the Webber Gallery, and the Summer Spotlight exhibit offers a wide range of styles and subjects by some of the best known artists in Marion County, allowing students and community members alike a glimpse into Ocala’s growing, vibrant arts scene.”
VAS has more than 100 members from all over Marion County and Central Florida. VAS exhibits showcase a variety of styles and mediums, including more traditional paintings and photographs, as well as jewelry, sculpture and digital media.
Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The gallery is closed Friday, Saturday, Sunday and college-observed holidays. For additional information, call 352-873-5809.
