DESCRIPTION:The Appleton Museum of Art\, College of Central Florida\, welcomes back one of Ocala’s most beloved holiday displays. On view Nov. 9-Jan. 12\, “A Dickens Christmas: The Urban Family’s Holiday Exhibition” features themed trees and much more from the collection of Ocala cardiologist Dr. Paul Urban\, his wife\, Joyce\, and daughters\, Katie\, Kristie\, Kassie and Karlie. \nAdorning the second floor of the museum are trees decorated by community groups and organizations. Participants include Appleton Artspace\, Better Together\, Bridge to Hope\, CAMPUS USA Credit Union\, College of Central Florida\, East Marion Elementary\, Hands Up Communications with LN Signs and Greater Marion County Association of the Deaf (GMCAD)\, Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services\, Humane Society of Marion County\, North Central Florida Media and Urban Counseling. \nVisit the museum on the December 7 Free First Saturday\, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.\, for the annual Holiday Community Day. Enjoy free admission all day to see “A Dickens Christmas: The Urban Family’s Holiday Exhibition\,” as well as other holiday displays and special exhibitions. Make festive crafts in the Artspace\, and from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.\, have your picture taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus and enjoy Face Painting by Tonya. All activities are free. The Donut Express and Little Red’s Chicken & BBQ food trucks will be onsite throughout the day. Each campus will have a jar filled with these treats\, and you are welcome to donate to submit your guess. The jars will be available starting Monday\, Dec. 2\, and you will have the opportunity to contemplate your guess until 5 p.m. Thursday\, Dec. 5. Each guess costs just $1\, or you can make six guesses for $5. Feel free to guess as many times as you like! We will announce the winner Friday\, Dec. 6\, and they will receive a $25 gift card. Understanding that not everyone has a door\, we are happy to extend the option to decorate windows as well. You can choose the space that you would like to adorn. The entry fee is $10\, and you will have from Monday\, Dec. 2\, to Thursday\, Dec. 5\, to decorate. Photos of entries need to be submitted by 3 p.m. Thursday to be included on the voting page. Friday\, Dec. 6\, there will be an opportunity for everyone to admire your decorations. Voting will take place through Monday\, Dec. 9. Each vote costs $1 or get 6 votes for $5.
