DESCRIPTION:Yes\, Saturdays can be SUPER\, especially if you spend the time working on a project for your own professional development. \nThe Teaching/Learning Institute has planned a “SUPER SATURDAY” April 5 for faculty. The Office of Professional Development is now extending this opportunity to staff. You know what you need to strengthen your skills and develop talents in order to promote excellence in yourself and those with whom you work. All you need is time and a little help to accomplish your project. \nParticipants must submit a proposal of a project that can be completed during the one-day workshop and demonstrates a clear intent to contribute meaningfully to the department or college. Your time will be spent on activities related to completing the proposed project. A $150 stipend will be given to each staff participant. \nReturn your completed application to opd@cf.edu by Wednesday\, March 26. Please contact Danny Camacho with any questions at opd@cf.edu.

DESCRIPTION:Visit the Appleton April 5 for Free First Saturday! Admission to the museum is free from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. In the auditorium at 11 a.m.\, a talk by Dr. Victoria Machado entitled\, “Exploring Florida’s Sacred Waters.” Drawing from the concept of ‘spirituality’ and the environmental humanities\, this program explores how Floridians can understand the state’s waters within the context of the sacred\, the holy or the divine. By gathering historical outlooks and present-day environmental movements\, Machado examines the cultural connections Floridians have to water and various environmental practices these connections inspire. \nThe Junkie Fries food truck will be on-site throughout the day\, as will LifeSouth Community Blood Centers. Saturday hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Free First Saturdays are supported in part by CAMPUS USA Credit Union\, Marion Cultural Alliance and National Endowment for the Arts. \nTopics and concepts presented at this event are for discussion purposes only and are not intended to espouse\, promote\, advance\, inculcate\, or compel individuals to believe the topics or concepts presented therein.
