SUMMARY:Free Screening of "The Monuments Men"
DESCRIPTION:Join us\, Sunday\, Feb. 15\, 1 p.m.\, in the auditorium of the Appleton Museum of Art for a free movie screening of “The Monuments Men.” This event is part of Take a Bite Out of the Appleton: The CF Appleton Teaching Project\, a 2025-20206 Endowed Chair winner. Admission is free in honor of Presidents Day. You can also enjoy family-friendly art activities in the Artspace throughout the day. \nAbout the film: Based on the true story of the greatest treasure hunt in history\, “The Monuments Men” is an action drama focusing on an unlikely World War II platoon\, tasked by FDR with going into Germany to rescue artistic masterpieces from German thieves and returning them to their rightful owners. It would be an impossible mission: with the art trapped behind enemy lines\, and with the German Army under orders to destroy everything as the Reich fell\, how could these guys – seven museum directors\, curators\, and art historians\, all more familiar with Michelangelo than the M1 – possibly hope to succeed? DESCRIPTION:Join us Tuesday\, Feb. 24\, for a showing of the Japanese film “Linda Linda Linda.” You can see it at either the Appleton Museum at 2 p.m. or at 7 p.m. on the Ocala Campus in the Ira Holmes Classroom\, Room 110 of Building 8. \nFor three friends\, their dream of playing the final high school concert together is dashed when their lead vocalist quits the band. Desperate\, they recruit the first person they see: a Korean exchange student whose comprehension of Japanese is limited at best. It’s a race against time as the group struggles to learn three songs in three days.
