Free Museum Day at The Appleton July 8

The Appleton Museum of Art, College of Central Florida, will host its third annual Museum Day on Saturday, July 8, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The community is invited to enjoy the arts with free admission all day. Exhibits include the recently opened “Bandits & Heroes, Poets & Saints: Popular Art of the Northeast of Brazil,” which features photographs, sculptures, paintings, prints, religious objects and booklets of poetry illustrating the complex and vibrant culture of the Northeast of Brazil. Also on view are word-based prints by Tyrus Clutter and a selection of Qing Dynasty snuff bottles from the permanent collection.

The Appleton Museum of Art presents a permanent collection of European, American and contemporary art, plus Asian, African and pre-Columbian artifacts and antiquities.

Owned and operated by College of Central Florida, the Appleton Museum of Art is located at 4333 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, east of downtown on SR40 (exit 352 east off I-75 or exit 268 west off I-95). Free parking is available.
