New Communications Lab at College of Central Florida Powered by Endowed Grant
Melissa Schuck, communications professor, was awarded the Category V New Initiative Endowed Grant – Collegewide during Convocation 2026 on Thursday, Aug. 14. Open to all CF employees, the $3,500 grant includes a $500 honorarium and $3,000 to fund the project. Schuck will use the grant to create the CF Communications Lab, building on the success of the Patriot Press, Imprints, In the Write Mind and Neighsayers to establish a dedicated space where all students can learn, collaborate and produce work using tools of the trade.
The lab will offer industry-standard tools in a premier workspace to enhance experiential learning and encourage collaboration for students across all disciplines. The multifunctional hub will support communications projects, research, media literacy and student communications organizations, giving students opportunities to develop practical skills and experience in a professional environment.
