Ira Holmes International Film Series: “Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom”

A disillusioned schoolteacher is transferred to the most remote school in the world, cut off from modern life deep in the Himalayan glaciers. In a classroom with no electricity or even a blackboard, he finds himself with only a yak and a song that echoes through the mountains. “Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom” (NR, Bhutan, 2019, 109 min.)

There are two showings on Tuesday, April 9. The first showing is 2 p.m. at the Appleton Museum of Art, 4333 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, free to all museum and film series members; nonmembers pay museum admission. The second showing is 7 p.m. at the College of Central Florida, Humanities and Social Sciences Building, Room 110, free and open to the public. Films may contain mature content.
