Open enrollment for CF’s new health insurance plan through State Group Insurance Plan (SGIP) begins today! Before you enroll, please review these updates to ensure you have the latest information. Full details and instructions on how to enroll can be found here.
1. Employee Spouse Information
Eligible employees can now participate in the Spouse Program, which allows them to pay for health insurance at a reduced premium.

- Spouses must enroll in the same health plan.
- It is the employee’s responsibility to notify the People First Service Center within 60 days for both eligibility and ineligibility.

2. Securian Life Insurance
For Securian Life Insurance, you will need to enroll with Securian first then the State Group Insurance Program. Send the Open Enrollment File to them on Nov. 18. Once they have your record, you should be able to add your beneficiaries.
3. Open Lab Support for Enrollment Assistance
The Office of Human Resources will be offering one-on-one support for anyone in need of assistance with the People First enrollment site.

4. Supplemental Benefits / Voluntary Enrollment
With the rising cost of health care and the increase in deductibles and copayments on health insurance, you have the option to elect supplemental coverage to help offset your out-of-pocket expenses. You have the opportunity to enroll in voluntary insurance options that can help protect your finances from life’s uncertainties.
Voluntary insurance works in addition to your major medical coverage and it pays cash benefits directly to you. You can use your benefit payment to help pay leftover expenses from your core health insurance or spend it however you wish, there are no restrictions.
Plans Available:
Short Term and Long-Term Disability Coverage: If you are currently enrolled in Disability Coverage your coverage will automatically renew, you do not need to re-enroll.
Short Term Disability offers two options. Option one has a 14-day elimination period and pays Benefits for 11 Weeks. Option two has a 30-day elimination period and benefits are paid for nine weeks.
Long Term Disability offers two options. Option one has a 90-day elimination period and Benefits are paid for up to five years. Option two has a 90-day elimination period and benefits are paid until Full Retirement age.
Supplemental Health Insurance: There are two plans to choose from.
Benefits are paid for the following:
- Hospital Admission
- Hospital Confinement/Intensive Care
- Surgery/Anesthesia
- Emergency Accident Treatment
- Office Visits—Up to 5 per year for any reason including dentist
New Benefit Available
Critical Illness Coverage: Pays a $10,000.00 lump sum benefit in the event you have a Heart Attack, Stroke, Renal Failure, Organ Transplant, Cancer or if you are diagnosed with several other illnesses outlined in the attached brochure. There is also a Wellness Benefit that pays a $100.00 Benefit each year should you have one of 18 eligible Wellness Tests including Cholesterol Screening, Triglyceride Screening, PSA, Mammography, Pap test, Chest X-ray or one of 12 other tests.

Features of the Allstate Benefits
- Benefits are paid Directly to the employee and are Tax-free
- Premiums are Payroll Deducted on a pretax Basis
- Once enrolled, Premiums do not increase as you age
- Coverages are available on a Guaranteed Issue Basis
Enrollment Dates:
Your enrollment period is Oct. 14 to Nov. 1, 2024.

Tom Watson will be in the Human Resources Conference Room on Oct. 15 and 23rd from 9:00 until 3:00. If you have questions or interest, please stop by and visit him on those dates. Tom will also be at the Benefit Fairs and you may visit with him there and pick up information.
