Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Update

“Joy is found when you focus your energy on improving human dignity, human capacity and human values.” – Amit Ray

Happy holidays! During the month of December there are over eight major religious and/or cultural holidays, festivals and celebrations. It is a season to cultivate and spread joy, and it is also a time of reflection. As you reflect during this season, consider how you have positively contributed to cultivating joy in yourself and others this year. We are sure there are many examples to choose from!

December is also Universal Human Rights Month. We encourage you to reflect on the following quote by Eleanor Roosevelt:

“Where, after all, do universal human rights begin? In small places, close to home — so close and so small that they cannot be seen on any maps of the world. […] Unless these rights have meaning there, they have little meaning anywhere. Without concerted citizen action to uphold them close to home, we shall look in vain for progress in the larger world.”

On behalf of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, we wish you great joy during this holiday season and beyond!
